Preventive medicine is a science that uses modern medical knowledge and methods to study rules of how the environment influences health, so as to develop measures that prevent human diseases. This helps to promote health, and prevent injury, disability and early death. Preventive medicine mainly follows the idea of “prevention”, in studies involving humans by using of “environment-human groups-health” model. Preventive medicine covers individuals and population. It emphasizes on a combination of micro- and macro-level studies on the relationship between disease and health, and factors including the environment, society, genetics and behavior, to develop strategies and measures to prevent diseases, thereby controlling them and guaranteeing health. As medical model evolves, this discipline plays an increasingly important role in medicine.
